Fire Extinguisher Disposal
If you’re not sure how to dispose of a fire extinguisher, you need to make sure you do it correctly, because otherwise, you could be breaking the law.
That’s because fire extinguishers are pressurised and therefore count as hazardous waste. That means that they cannot be disposed of with general waste or in a skip, as they could easily be subject to the sort of damage that could cause them to explode.
Meanwhile, although fire extinguishers (and usually any remaining contents) are mostly recyclable, it’s not always easy to do so – they won’t be collected along with other recyclables like paper, glass and plastics by your local council.
Here at Scutum North, we work across North England, including in and around Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield, to provide fast, safe, legal and convenient fire extinguisher disposal near you. And, of course, if you need your extinguishers replaced, we can do that as well!
