Lithium Battery Fire Extinguishers
Lithium-ion batteries are appearing in more and more of the devices we use on a daily basis, both at work and at home. That’s because they pack a lot of power into their relatively small size and are quick and easy to charge.
However, if damaged or subject to extreme temperatures, lithium-ion batteries can catch fire and even explode, meaning that if you’re regularly storing and charging them, you’d be advised to keep Lith-Ex fire extinguishers at hand. They use an extinguishing agent called Aqueous Vermiculite Dispersion (AVD), which both cools and surrounds the fire source to prevent the thermal runaway that often accompanies a lithium-ion battery fire from developing further.
A lithium battery fire extinguisher also counts as a Class D fire extinguisher, meaning that one can be used on fires involving flammable metals such as magnesium, lithium, potassium and titanium as well.
Scutum North can supply, install and maintain lithium-ion battery fire extinguishers in a range of sizes to suit all kinds of risks, from small devices such as vapes, mobiles and laptops to larger items like power tools, electrical vehicles and forklift trucks.
We operate across Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and beyond, helping local businesses stay safe from the threat of fire and meet their legal fire safety responsibilities.
